Our school first began as a public school in 1964 when the O'Brien family of Cameron Downs campaigned to begin a school in the district. The first school building was a corrugated iron two room classroom and joining teachers quarters. There were no lawns or trees as there wasn't the water to irrigate with and no air-conditioning.
The school is located on a working commercial cattle station of some 80000 hectares.
Today the school facilities include:
- air-conditioned classroom
- separate library
- a separate Prep - shed
- administration building located in the original classroom building
- a tennis court
- a Hall Of Fame area for play and recreation
- a shade covered playground
- a large undercover area
- all surrounded by self irrigated lawns and towering trees
